Donation We are pleased to offer Egg and Embryo donation program at Saint Mary Fertility Center. If you are interested in learning more about our donation program, please read the information below or contact us for any information you require. Egg donation is the process by which a woman (an egg donor) donates (usually 10-15) eggs (ova, oocyte), to another individual or couple for the purpose of conceiving a child, as part of IVF (in-vitro fertilization). Eggs are extracted vaginally from the ovaries of the donor during a simple, ultrasound-guided, outpatient procedure. The process has been done at Saint Mary Fertility Cenetr for over 10 years, and has a very high rate of success.
Sperm donation the provision of sperm by a male other than a woman's male partner. Sperm donation is generally performed when the male partner does not produce sufficient sperm or carries a known genetic disorder. A sperm donor is the biological father of every child produced with the use of his sperm. We don't offer such a service at Saint Mary Fertility Cenetr. Embryo donation Embryo donation is an option that is open to our IVF patients who have embryos that they do not wish to use themselves and want to help other couples. These donated embryos are then transferred into the "recipient" uterus using frozen embryo transfer. It helps recipient couples that would otherwise be unable to conceive, carry a pregnancy to term. Embryo donation is chosen by many couples who are unable to afford conventional reproductive treatments or who have been unsuccessful with IVF treatments. Our embryo donation coordinator at Saint Mary Fertility Center will guide you through the program and refer you, if you would like to competent legal experts in this area. |
